my story : cprovancher
Author Alex Haley once said, if you want to get people to listen to you, start with the phrase, “I’m going to tell you a story.”
Those of us in marketing know the power of stories. It’s how we spend our days. We communicate—with words, or with pictures that say a thousand of them. We build excitement. We transmit ideas.
We tell stories. Here's mine:
================================
I'm originally from Maine, where from an early age I was a legend in my own mind as a student journalist and cartoonist. I left all that fame and glory behind and moved to the Boston area to earn my B.A. in English at Tufts, with plans to become a journalist.
I loved the storytelling aspect of journalism, but in my 20s I realized that I missed the visual side of communications. That led me to study graphic design at Mass. College of Art & Design, where I learned to communicate a message through photography, illustration, color and typography.
Today, I draw on my background in both editorial and design—and mix in a curiosity about technology—to oversee creative and branding in the high-tech industry. It's where I was meant to be.
Why? Because I never get tired of helping an innovative company tell its story.
